The Blitz Captive Bolt Stunner is the only stunner on the market using center fire blank cartridges. Other brands use a smaller rim fire cartridges with less power. Rim fire cartridges are constructed with a thin, hollow rim with priming compounds inside the rim. Because of this lighter weight rim they are not loaded for high pressures.
Center fire cartridges are constructed of a solid headed case and fire by striking a separate primer. Because of the separate primer and heavy case head, center fired cartridges can be loaded to higher operating pressures.
With a captive bolt stunner effective killing power is more dependent on the concussive impact than bolt length. The 9mm load of the Blitz cartridge develops over twice as much impact energy as .25 caliber load.
